Laying insulation can be done yourself, providing you know what you’re doing, there are a variety of big jobs that need to be left to the professionals. Except when it comes to finally owning your own home, the pride you feel is also always accompanied by a vague sense of dread. Adding home insulation to an existing home will also increase sound control. Insulation creates a sound barrier, keeping unwanted sounds out and protecting your privacy by keeping the sounds from inside your home from being audible outside. Insulating your home also creates a moisture barrier, keeping unwanted moisture out of your house.

Noise is complex and very situation specific, so simply adding more insulation alone is not an effective noise control strategy. However, additional insulation will almost always need to be a core component of a smart noise control strategy.
